AboutUs

The Jansenberger family consists of my husband Florian, our children Angelina and Elias, and I, Birgitta (Biggi). Together with my parents-in-law Maria and Willi, we manage our Almhof Bärnreith farm. Our farm is well-known among Pustertal Sprinzen breeders. As the largest breeding operation, we are an important part of genetic conservation for the preservation of this endangered breed of cattle.

Our business is very broadly positioned; among other things, we also run the local ski school and, at the heart of my business: the small-scale Arabian horse breeding program, which is the subject of this website. In breeding, I place great emphasis on health, character, and species-appropriate rearing. These three pillars are the essential foundation for versatile, solid horses that embody our breeding goals.

AboutMe

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by horses. At the age of seven, I had the opportunity to take my first riding lessons in Munich and later to get a taste of horse riding.

“Port Rashid” was the name of my first great love of horses. This beautiful, black Arabian stallion infected me with the incurable “Arabian virus” as a child.

At the age of eleven, my dream of owning my own horse came true. This horse, too, had to have some Arabian flair, so I opted for an Arab-Haflinger mare. In my hometown of Abensburg (yes, I’m a native Bavarian), I was open to anything horse-riding. Whether it was dressage, show jumping, carriage driving, or fox hunting, with my outgoing, sociable nature, I was, and still am, involved in every fun activity.

I met my husband, Florian, on my last multi-day ride in Bavaria. Since then, I’ve known that love at first sight does exist.

In 2007, I moved to Austria, to his parents’ farm. With my lively, honest, and humorous nature, I brought a breath of fresh air to the farm and to my new home village of Hinterstoder… that quote comes from my girlfriend 🙂

In 2012, I met Mr. Grabmeier and his family through hunting, and the foundation for my current Arabian horse breeding was laid.

I’m passionate about horse breeding not only because of the work with the animals, but also because it offers the ideal setting for meeting new people and fostering a lively exchange with like-minded individuals.

Our Farm

In southern Upper Austria, at the end of the Hinterstoder valley, our Almhof Bärnreith is located on a high plateau at 830m above sea level. Idyllic and

Our alpine farm is ideal for small, family-run horse breeding. The farm is situated in a quiet, sunny location, nestled in meadows and surrounded by forests. The expansive meadows provide an ideal environment for our mares and their foals to get plenty of exercise from an early age. This freedom of movement is crucial for the healthy development of young horses.

On our safe paths, free from dangerous roads, our foals can be accustomed to rides from an early age. Through controlled rides, the foals experience different environments, sounds, and movements, which builds their self-confidence and prepares them for future challenges.

On our alpine pasture, located at an altitude of 1400–2000 m, our horses can be completely horses for about three months in the summer on lightly wooded alpine meadows. This means they can eat healthy alpine herbs, romp around in slightly alpine terrain, socialize with the herd, and enjoy freedom.
